The Infinity Lifers Liaison Group (ILLG)

The Infinity Lifers Liaison Group (ILLG) is a prisoner rights and political advocacy group based out of the University of Ottawa. The ILLG acts as a community liaison for men serving life sentences at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston. For the 2010-2011 school year the ILLG is pursuing two objectives: advocacy for the inside and education on the outside. In order to facilitate these goals the ILLG plans and participates in a number of events including Prisoner’s Justice Day, the Exceptional People’s Olympiad, socials, etc while also attempting to educate the public through publications and presentations. For the upcoming month the ILLG will be publishing Joint Venture – a collection of poetry and artwork created by the members of our group at Collins Bay.

The ILLG celebrated its 20th anniversary in the fall of 2004. Since then, our Constitution for governance and mandate has developed:

The primary aims of the ILLG are to raise awareness about the struggles inside Canadian prisons, specifically Collins Bay Institution (CBI), along with functioning as a community liaison group to the members of the ILG.

The secondary aims of the ILLG are to raise awareness about the struggles affecting life-sentenced prisoners specifically, and Canadian prisoners generally, by initiating endeavours, along with seeking out and participating in the activities of similar groups across the country.
